Ann Simberg, Chair of the Finnish Art Group in London, is a Helsinki-born artist exhibiting in Finland and the UK. She paints layered oils, from slow, evolving works to fluid pieces.

Pirkko Cunningham, Finland-born and Sussex-based, creates landscapes and life drawings that capture nature’s energy and form. She continues to explore new ideas while painting directly from her surroundings.

Finnish-born artist Satu Vartiainen, trained in Paris and mostly self-taught, paints bold, colourful landscapes, portraits, and abstracts. She has exhibited widely in London and internationally.

Sipi Hämeenaho, Helsinki-born and UK-based for 50 years, is a painter and printmaker. Inspired by Finland’s forests, lakes, and archipelago, she now explores abstraction and subtle colour to evoke nature.

Eija Burrell is an artist and illustrator, founding member and Creative Director of the Finnish Art Group, and Curator of the Sir Peter Blake Gallery. Her work is inspired by Finland’s forests and lakes.

Tuula Rasen is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist who runs an art and therapy practice in South East London. She explores change, creativity, and consciousness. In her art and writing, she combines play and experimentation with analytic techniques. 

Paula Vanninen is a Helsinki‑born painter now based in central London. She rediscovered watercolours during lockdown and has continued exploring the medium with joy. Her work draws on floral memories from her childhood, especially the bold colours of rhododendrons. Recently, she has begun painting birds, inspired by the symbolism of the robin at Christmas, and she welcomes commissions, including favourite birds.

Helsinki-born journalist Eeva Lennon, an early Finnish Art Group member, worked in Paris and London for Yleisradio. Author and award-winning correspondent, she continues to write and report.

Arna Davis, a longtime member and former Chair of the Finnish Art Group, is an accomplished artist turned writer. She holds a BA in Fine Art and authored Arna's Song.

Eeva Gibbs works in clay, wood, paper, metal and glass, creating collages guided by the materials. Now in Loughton, Essex, she draws inspiration from nature and artists like Bourgeois.

Jenni Kähkönen, clay sculptor from Finnish Lapland, now based in the UK, creates deeply personal, spontaneous sculptures that explore love, loss, and memory through music and intuition.

Leena Ceccolini, Finland-born and London-based, creates prints and ceramics inspired by Finnish landscapes, combining etching, aquatint, and layered clays to explore texture, tone, and form.

Hanna Tuukkanen, London-based Finnish textile artist, works mainly in wool. Her felted creations, inspired by Nordic forests, feature whimsical wildlife full of warmth and personality.

Leena Charles, textile designer specializing in knitwear, trained in London and Nottingham. She works from East London using sustainable UK merino wool, vintage machines, and felting techniques.

Emmi Maaria, London-based artist, violist, and composer, blends classical, folk, and contemporary music. Her debut album, inspired by Finnish literature, is due in 2026.

Tuomo Karjalainen, Finland-born and London-based, plays acoustic “Cinematic Dream Guitar,” blending classical, rock, world, and soundtrack influences. He performs live regularly in the city.

Jutta Iidamari Bartlett, born in Tampere, Finland, studied Fashion in London. Based in Kent, she creates mixed-media art and jewellery inspired by nature, often referencing her fashion background.

Pia Matikka, Finland-born and London-based for 20+ years, is an amateur calligrapher. She presents a section of Zacharias Topelius’ song Laps’ Suomen, translated from Swedish to Finnish.

Hannele Weir, London-based Finnish artist and former lecturer, blends visual art and sociology. She has worked with Tate Modern and published articles on art and education.

Johanna Puisto is a Finnish-born sculpture conservator with over 20 years’ experience at the V&A in London, specialising in sculpture, ceramics and glass.

Antti de Ruano is Finnish by birth and spent 14 years in Helsinki before moving to London. He also studied in Paris and Toulouse. Now working as a lawyer in London, he is an occasional exhibiting artist.
